I am all too familiar with knee pain and wearing those big bulky knee braces that actually ruin nearly every outfit. I think it’s important to take care of your body but I also enjoy looking great too, I mean, who wouldn’t want to wear nice clothing?
For me, I was an athlete, so basketball naturally ruined my knees from indecent fouls landing me knee first on the court, to improper shoe support resulting in unstable bearing during those full court sprints. I take pride in my athletic accomplishments, but outside of sports, I have grown up and experienced life through a much older point of view. My body grew with me, and like everyone else’s, has stopped helping itself. No problem, I figured for all the times my body helped me win championships, the least I could do was wear a knee brace without shame. The problem is, after countless doctor visits I actually found more help to be through correct shoe insoles. And by correct, I mean personally fitted for my specific foot. Of course, I questioned the foot health correlation to my knee pain. The simplest way to explain all of this was hyper mobile feet (my feet were moving way more than they needed to), and an unsupported arch only worsening the problem of hypermobility.
Of course, it all made so much more sense, I was guilty of neglecting my foot health. After being educated, I continued my research on custom shoe insoles and found nothing but positive case studies to back my doctor’s advice. The reason shoe insoles perform better with a custom fit is the same reason you buy your clothes in your exact size. It just makes sense when it’s tailored specifically for you. I had to mention the fact that shoe insoles are not bulky knee braces, which was very important to me. My new custom shoe insoles are fighting my specific knee pain effectively in style all the time!
